3 Proper installation of a Cylinder
You'll find below the steps to follow by any installer to make sure a cylinder will work properly and will be installed correctly.
3.1 Before the physical installation of the Cylinder
Prior to the physical installation of the cylinder in the lock, follow the steps below:
- Complete the installation process in the app "MyLocken for VT".
- Synchronize your key.
- Try to open the cylinder, having it in your hand.
If the key flashes green and you can open the cylinder, it means the cylinder works properly and you can proceed with the physical installation.
If it's not the case it means something is wrong and you'll need to run some tests. You'll find below the different outcomes of the cylinder tests and how to act in each case:
The key DOES NOT FLASH when insterted in the cylinder
| Test | Test Result | Diagnosis | Solution |
| 1.- Does the key LED flash green after holding down key button for 3 seconds? | NO (also in case it flashes “orange” or red) | Key battery low | Replace key battery and try again |
| YES | No battery problem | Go to test 2 | |
| 2.- Check the keyway of the cylinder to see if anything is blocking the key from fully entering | There’s something | Keyway is blocked | Remove the object blocking the keyway |
| There’s nothing | Keyway is free | Go to tests 3 and 4 | |
| 3.- Is the key having the same problem on other cylinders? | YES | Faulty key | Replace key |
| NO | Faulty cylinder | Replace cylinder | |
| 4.- Is another key having the same problem on the cylinder? | YES | Faulty cylinder | Replace cylinder |
| NO | Faulty key | Replace key |
NOTE: It’s not absolutely mandatory to do both tests 3 and 4, only one of them can be enough. However, it’s better to do both tests.
The key FLASHES RED when insterted in the cylinder
| Test | Test Result | Diagnosis | Solution |
| 1.- How is the key flashing? | 7 times (fast) | Key was never synchronized | Synchronize the key. If problem persists, contact your assigned support team |
| 3 times (fast) | Cold key | Heat up the key by holding it in the hands and try again | |
